Pegundan, August 5, 2026 — team II of Diponegoro University KKN (Undip) in 2026 Pegundan village carried out the activity “mentoring for the implementation of coding and artificial intelligence modules for elementary school teachers Phase C (Class V and VI)” on Wednesday, August 5 this activity was attended by Class V and VI teachers as an effort to support teachers ‘ readiness in implementing coding and artificial intelligence learning in elementary schools.
The activity begins with an introduction to coding and artificial intelligence learning policies and the reasons for the importance of such learning for students. Teachers are also invited to understand the basic concepts of coding through computational thinking, including decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms. While in the AI material, teachers are introduced to the concept of intelligent machines, how AI learns from data, and the importance of using technology wisely and ethically.
Furthermore, participants were introduced to the teacher’s companion module that has been prepared to help teachers understand and apply the material in learning. The module contains a summary of the material, learning objectives, an overview of the material, teacher preparation, implementation notes, as well as suggestions for learning alternatives when the device is limited.
In the discussion session, one of the teachers said that coding and artificial intelligence materials were still relatively new to them. The teacher also revealed that coding and Artificial Intelligence books were only received for the first time this year so they still need assistance to understand the material and how to convey it to students.
“We are still quite confused because this is a new thing for us. We also received the book for the first time this year, so we still need to learn how to convey the material to the children,” said one of the teachers.
In addition to modules, teachers are also introduced to the Erlangga AI platform as one of the learning supporters. The activity then continued with a discussion on the application of learning in the classroom, including alternative activities that can be done if the digital device facilities are limited.
“We hope this assistance can help you / Mother more confident to start. Learning coding and AI does not always have to be complicated; the most important thing is how students are invited to think, try, and use technology wisely,” said Indah, as the speaker.
The Program supports SDGs goal 4, Quality Education, through efforts to improve teacher readiness and expand access to learning that is relevant to technological developments. In addition, the program also deals with SDGs goal 9, Industry, Innovation, and infrastructure, especially in the introduction of technology and the development of digital competencies since the basic education level.
Through this activity, the Undip KKN team II hopes that the assistance provided can help teachers be better prepared to implement coding and artificial intelligence learning and create relevant learning experiences for students in the digital era.
