Demak, August 6, 2026 – In an effort to encourage the use of digital technology in the government environment, the community service team of the Department of Informatics, Universitas Diponegoro held a training on the use of artificial intelligence as a thematic assistant for the Demak Regency personnel and Human Resource Development Agency (BKPSDM). The training was themed “The use of artificial intelligence as a thematic Assistant to improve the quality of consultation and interpretation of personnel regulations at BKPSDM Demak.”
The training began with a speech from the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro, Dr.Eng. Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Kom., which emphasizes the importance of readiness in utilizing artificial intelligence in the midst of increasingly rapid technological developments. In his speech, he said that AI will increasingly become part of the world of work, so the ability to use it is one of the important things for increasing productivity. The statement is a reminder that AI not only needs to be understood as a new technology, but also as a tool that can help improve ability and effectiveness in work.
Furthermore, Satriawan Rasyid Purnama, S.Kom., M.Cs., as the head of the Universitas Diponegoro Service team, began the material session by reviewing the prompt engineering concept that had been introduced in the previous training. The discussion then continues with context engineering, namely how users can prepare relevant information, documents, rules, and context so that AI can provide output that is more appropriate to the needs. Participants were also introduced to the different levels of AI use, from search engines and chatbots to thematic assistants and agents, as well as how to choose the level of AI use that suits the needs and risks of the job.
After the delivery of the material, participants follow the hands-on practice of context engineering to apply the concepts that have been learned. The activity took place interactively with challenges that tested participants ‘ understanding of structuring and utilizing context for AI. As a form of appreciation, the three fastest participants who successfully completed the practice received shopping vouchers. This approach is in line with training materials that emphasize that AI can help draft, summarize information, analyze data, and perform routine tasks, while judgment and decisions remain with the user.
The training is expected to encourage ASN in Kabupaten Demak to start integrating artificial intelligence into their daily work in a more targeted and responsible manner. With proper utilization, AI can help speed up administrative work while supporting the improvement of public service quality. The community service team of the Department of Informatics of Universitas Diponegoro is also committed to continuing to assist the implementation of these technologies in the Demak Regency government as part of efforts to support digital transformation.
