Boyolali – Students of Idbu-13 thematic real work lecture (KKN-T) Diponegoro University (UNDIP) carried out a Digitization Program for the Teras Village Library, Teras District, Boyolali regency. The Program is realized through the installation of a library automation system based on Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) 9 months and the creation of a library Manager Account.
This Program was carried out by Zoe Mohamed, a student of the S1 Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) Diponegoro University, as part of the multidisciplinary work program of the IDBU-13 UNDIP KKN-T Team in Teras Village.
The implementation of the program was motivated by the results of observations and interviews with managers of the Teras Village Library. Based on these results, it is known that the library management process is still done manually and is not supported by an automation system.
This condition causes a number of library administration activities, ranging from collection recording, searching for book titles, to monitoring the availability and status of collections, cannot be carried out optimally. The process of service to users also takes longer because the collection information has not been stored in an integrated system.
As a solution to these problems, Zoe installed SLiMS 9 Bulian as an automation system that can help managers in managing collections and library administration digitally.
The activities carried out in mid-July 2026 include system installation, server configuration, multilevel user access rights Settings, Manager Account Creation, and system function testing. Configuration is also adjusted so that the system can be operated more easily by managers who have not previously been accustomed to using a web-based library system.
Through the implementation of SLiMS, Teras Village Library managers are expected to be able to record and search collections more effectively and obtain information about the availability of collections more quickly and accurately. The system is also the first step in building a more structured and digitized library management.
The SLiMS installation also became the foundation for a series of digitization programs for the Teras Village Library carried out by the IDBU-13 UNDIP KKN-T Team. The Program includes migration of collection data into the System, Library integration with Indonesia OneSearch, as well as the development of a library guide or Pathfinder website.
Through this series of programs, UNDIP KKN-T students strive to encourage the transformation of Teras village library management towards more modern, effective, and accessible services. Library digitization is expected to not only facilitate the work of managers, but also improve the quality of information services for the people of Teras Village.
This Program also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular goal 4 (Quality Education) through increased access to quality information services, Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and infrastructure) through digitization of library management, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and resilient institutions) through strengthening more effective and accountable governance of Village Library Services.
